The Usual Place is creating a circle of friendship to help support its work into the future.

When you become a Friend we will send you Friends Newsletters and an invitation to our annual Friends Canape Evening.
You can also call in to our office anytime during opening hours (Mon-Fri 9.30am – 4pm) to pick up a Friends Pin Badge too!

Your Friendship

Please give whatever you feel you can to support our work with young people. There is no minimum or maximum amount. Your friendship will encourage young people with additional support needs to believe in their own potential through the work of The Usual Place.

You can join as an individual, couple, family, or group of friends, you can also give a friendship as a gift – friends come in all shapes and sizes!

You will be helping to create a circle of friendship around The Usual Place to support our work in the long term, and we will send you Friends Newsletters and an invitation to our annual Friends Canape Evening.

When you become a Friend you can call in to our office anytime during opening hours (Mon-Fri 9.30am – 4pm) to pick up a Friends Pin Badge too!

You may choose to give any amount
From the cost of a cup of coffee, any amount will be very welcome and you will be helping to build a friendship fund and a circle of support that cheers on the young people who train with us.

As a guide, we mentor over 100 young people each year on various work experience and training programmes and we mentor through our values: Everyone is of equal worth, Everyone can contribute to their community, Everyone deserves dignity and respect.
£47 is the average HOURLY cost to Mentor a young person through our full programme.
For every £1 spent, The Usual Place creates £11 additional economic value

If the welfare effects of creating jobs and income among young people with
additional support needs are considered then for every pound invested by The
Usual Place, nearly eleven pounds in value (£9.8 million) is sustained across the
Dumfries & Galloway economy. This includes the additional costs avoided by the
public sector through generating opportunities for a disadvantaged group *
