Wow 🤩 Katie has really inspired lots of employers today at the Disability Confident event run by Department of Work and Pensions at The Bridge, Dumfries.
Katie was asked to give a presentation about the work we do at The Usual Place and encouraging businesses from Dumfries and Galloway to sign up to the Disability Confident Employers Scheme. Katie has had lots of praise for her presentation and comments on how natural she was at talking to an audience, even bringing some people to tears!
Katie is a very talented person and her confidence and ability to communicate in so many situations and settings has really grown since beginning her SVQ studies at The Usual Place. As well as all the experience she gains in meeting and serving cafe customers, working in a team, facing new challenges, special events, talking to other organisations about our work and her own lived experience, she recently led the tour of The Usual Place for John Swinney MSP, First Minister for Scotland.
Katie is joined today by Lived Experience Mentor, Kat and Employer-Ability Mentor, Sharon and this afternoon they are all attending The Health/Volunteer event at The Bridge and promoting opportunities to volunteer at The Usual Place.
Huge congratulations to Katie and well-done team!
