Katie is now focussing on moving from training into work and is relishing this opportunity to gain experience in an office setting.
Katie is enjoying this interesting new office environment and is assisting Emma Harper MSP and her team in the constituency office in Dumfries.
Katie’s first day included laminating posters, checking for news stories in the newspapers and preparing items for school packs. She has also visited Dumfries & Galloway College to observe Emma Harper taking part in a student surgery and found this very interesting. The afternoon was spent setting up her account on the computer and getting familiar with the technology.
Katie has had a fantastic start to her work placement and has the additional benefit of active mentorship from Sharon, our Employer-Ability Mentor who can work with both the employer and the young person moving from training into work.
Well done Katie – you are learning to adapt to different environments, gaining experience and using your wide-ranging skills from customer service, to admin and your discipline and artistic flair – enjoy every minute of this great opportunity!
