Luke is a Lived Experience Trainer and used to be a Trainee
Posted on: 16/09/2024, by : Leah MetcalfLuke works for Inspired Community Enterprise Trust (aka The Usual Place) as a Lived Experience Trainer.
Most of his time is spent travelling out to businesses and organisations, or in our meeting rooms, where he delivers training in Autism Awareness and various aspects of improving working environments for staff and customers in terms of understanding how to improve sensory settings and communication.
He is also part of the team who run Good Connections for Autistic Adults across the whole of Dumfries and Galloway.
But Luke also started out as a trainee here at The Usual Place and has worked in the cafe for a number of years in the past. His knowledge and application of allergens and food safety is excellent which is great because that means he can sometimes step in to give the front of house team a hand when needed. It’s also something Luke loves to do as he enjoys being back in amongst the Front of House team and customers (many of whom he knows).
He has just carried out the coffee machine cleaning process, including flushing out the milk dispensing fridges and tubing – an important task that happens every night in the cafe.
