Our Accreditation Anniversary

Posted on: November 29, 2022, by :

This week The Usual Place are celebrating our Accreditation Anniversary and our continued commitment to the Living Wage Movement.

We choose to pay the real living wage because we believe that a hard day’s work deserves a fair day’s pay.

This means that we are committed to paying our staff a fair wage which meets every day needs, and enables them to live a dignified life.

The real living wage is the only UK wage rate calculated according to the actual costs of living – and is currently set at £10.90 per hour.

These latest rates announced on 22nd September see a 10% increase in the Living Wage –intended to support staff through the recent inflation in the costs of living.

We are one of over 11,000 accredited employers delivering this wage across the UK.

The Usual Place, and other Living Wage organisations, are accredited by Living Wage Scotland, in partnership with the Living Wage Foundation and funded by the Scottish Government.

We believe in three core values, that:

  • Everyone should be treated with dignity and respect
  • Everyone can contribute to their community
  • Everyone is of equal worth.

We firmly believe that we uphold these values in part by delivering this Living Wage – and that this is of great benefit to our staff and young people, and to the business itself.

We would encourage all other organisations to adopt this approach, and join the thousands of other organisations who are accredited by the Living Wage Foundation.
