Inclusive Development and Knowledge Exchange Enabler

 

What we do:

Inspired Community Enterprise Trust LTD (ICET) was set up in November 2011 with the aim of responding to the voice of young disabled people. The Usual Place Café sits in the heart of Dumfries and comes under the umbrella of ICET, a not-for-profit social enterprise which gained charity status in 2021.  Through The Usual Pace, ICET offers 14 to 25 years, with an additional support need and Autistic people, work experience and training opportunities in a hospitality environment.  Work experience placements enable young people to learn and develop transferable skills, gain knowledge in food preparation and safety, customer service and, to enable them to grow in confidence and develop resilience.

 

Project Information:

We are looking to recruit someone who will be able to achieve a cross sectoral change in societies view of disabled people, including:

  • A reduction in poverty of expectation
  • Improved expectation of civic and economic capacity and participation
  • Greater understanding of Autism and Additional Support Needs
  • Greater understanding of equality issues
  • Knowledge and understanding of Fair Work in Practice
  • Promoting a Human Rights based approach, through listening to the voices of people with an additional and their families

 

Our Graduate will:

  • Successfully engage with disable young people and them to share and amplify their vision for inclusive Fair Work provision in Dumfries and Galloway
  • Continue to achieve the South of Scotland Regional Economic Strategy Ambitions, including No One Left Behind
  • Enable young people with an Additional Support Need (ASN) to work independently and develop personal agency in a real work environment
  • Work co-productively young people with an ASN to develop and deliver Autism Awareness Training to local business partners, Third Sector organisations and Education providers, promoting the lived experience voice and potential of young Autistic person.
  • Enable young people with an ASN to deliver Enterprise for Social Good workshops to Secondary School Pupils in S3 Business Classes
  • Work with young people to deliver effective inductions and mentorship to Health, Education and Social Care Students on work experience placements in The Usual Place.
  • Work with young people and stakeholders to plan and deliver a conference ‘Youth Matters – What Needs to Happen’

 

Terms and Conditions:

  • Salary – £9.90 per hour (Living Wage – Scotland)
  • 5 hours per week, flexible 8.30am – 4.30pm (full-time) based at Usual Place Café Dumfries
  • Contract: Fixed Term – 12 months
  • Annual Leave – 28 days for full-time or pro-rata for part time hours
