Inspired Communities Enterprise Trust (ICET) is a Social Enterprise with charitable status based in Dumfries. We are looking for a new Board Member to support our organisation as it develops new and exciting projects and expands its impact on society both at a local level within Dumfries and Galloway and beyond.
Our flagship facility within Dumfries is a community café and event space. The Usual Place offers young people with additional support needs life changing opportunities through a variety of strengths based, individually tailored programs which are co- designed and delivered and which promote citizenship, employability and economic inclusion.
Young people from age 14 upwards develop essential life and work skills, including achieving externally accredited vocational qualifications, enabling personal career goals in further education, apprenticeships, work and self-employment.
Our Team also work with employers to enable their employer-ability, giving them the confidence to recruit, welcome, and successfully enable the full contribution of disabled employees.
Our values underpin all the work done by our Trustees and our dedicated staff team:
- Everyone should be treated with dignity and respect
- Everyone is of equal worth
- Everyone has a part to play in their community
We are very proud that during Covid-19 closures our staff team quickly adapted to ensure our young people kept contact through zoom enabled learning. This agility meant that we could also continue with our Board Meetings in a virtual setting. We are happy to continue with this practice for Board Meetings to allow maximum flexibility for our Trustees.
The Board currently has between 6 and 9 members and meets bi-monthly and is supported by an HR and Nominations Committee which oversees all recruitment of Trustees and Senior positions within the organisation.
We are currently seeking to expand the diversity of our Board and are interested in applicants from all backgrounds and experiences. We are particularly interested in candidates who have previous experience, preferably in a Charity or Third Sector organisation in the following areas:
- Business development/strategy development
